A Footnote to Previous Posting: Thank You for Your Comments and Support

It also goes without saying (I'm tagging this comment to what I just posted) that I am deeply grateful to all of you for your comments here this past week, for your emails, and your generous expressions of support and encouragement. I am probably not going to be able to respond to each comment left here following my two postings early in the week.

Please know that I am grateful for them, though. And I'll aim at something more substantial and informative than what I just posted here a moment ago, as I return to posting. There's so much to be said, it seems to me — and to be talked about. And that "so much" makes it all the more difficult to talk in any sense-making way.

There's so much to be said, for instance, about a question that drives right to the heart of my own story: why on earth would anyone want to choose the Catholic church and remain Catholic when so much about the Catholic church right now — including and perhaps notably its "liberal" institutions — is so downright mean-spirited? So unappealing.

So much at odds with what the church professes to be all about.

And with the gospels.

I may have more to say about all of this in coming days, since these are questions I have no choice except to keep asking myself after I made the fateful decision as a young teen to leave my family's evangelical church and become Catholic. And they're questions that readers of this blog have persistently asked me, which deserve a response from me — particularly when new readers are always coming here, and haven't read any of my previous commentary about these issues.
